“After practicing law for almost 24 years and spending time as a professor in the classroom, I have gained a great deal of respect for our legal system and the people who work hard to see that everyone that comes in contact with it are treated fairly and equally. Now it is my strongest desire to put that experience to work serving the community as one of your Superior Court Judges.

Background

Born February 25, 1961 in Birmingham, Alabama

Moved to Beaufort County, NC in 6th grade

Joined the Firm of Dixon Duffus and Doub in 1990

Formed his own practice, Foster Fitzpatrick Attorneys in 2007

Education

Graduated – Chocowinity High School, 1979

Attended East Carolina University from 1979 – 1983. Graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice

Graduated Campbell University, Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law in 1990

Experience

Probation Parole Officer – Supervised serious felons on probation from 1983 – 1987
Attorney and Counselor at Law 1991 – 2015

  • Practice experience includes North Carolina State and Federal Courts
  • Handled Criminal Cases including Capital Murder, All Felonies and Misdemeanors
  • Prosecuted Civil actions on behalf of Plaintiffs and Defendants across the state
  • Argued before the Court of Appeals and Supreme Court of North Carolina and Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond, Virginia
  • Adjunct Professor, East Carolina University
  • 1991 – School of Criminal Justice
  • 2011 to Present – Teaching Criminal Law, Department of Criminal Justice
  • Co-Authored with wife, Jean T. Foster, RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator); N.C. Medical Record Association Legal Reference Manual.
